Liposuction

• A reshaped figure Liposuction: liposuction is not a weight-loss method; rather, it helps to harmonise the contours of the body, for example in the case of a predominantly saddlebags appearance.

Before the operation, a pre-operative consultation is compulsory. If you have recently put on weight, it is important to lose weight before considering surgery.

Liposuction is generally carried out under local anaesthetic or sedation; for more extensive liposuction, it may be performed under general anaesthetic.

Deep fat is removed using cannulas with rounded tips inserted into the areas to be treated through very short incisions (of the order of 3-4 millimetres). Most often hidden in a natural fold, they are particularly discreet, making the scars almost invisible from a distance.

At the end of the operation, compression to limit post-operative oedema is usually applied using a suitable panty or elastic bands.

The result will begin to appear after three weeks, once the oedema has subsided, but it is only after 3 to 6 months - the time needed for the skin to retract completely and readapt to the new silhouette - that the final result can be appreciated.

• It is important to note that the more supple the skin, the faster and better it will heal. Liposuction is therefore recommended from adulthood onwards.
• In some cases, it is possible to take advantage of the natural tissue that is the fat extracted during liposuction, to "fill out" certain areas that are considered insufficiently shapely (face, buttocks, breasts, etc.).
• For patients who refuse surgery, the CoolSculpting is a serious and advantageous alternative to liposuction.
