More than a million people in Switzerland grind their teeth at night

Did you know that? Over a million people in Switzerland grind their teeth at night! It's called bruxism.

What exactly is bruxism?

This is the involuntary clenching or grinding of teeth, especially at night. The causes can vary: stress, dental alignment problems, etc. If left untreated, bruxism can cause tooth damage, facial pain and problems with the jaw joint. But the good news is that if you suffer from bruxism, injections of botulinum toxin into the jaw muscles can provide relief. What's more, this technique also helps to refine the lower face.

How botulinum toxin can help you

You probably know the Botox® for its aesthetic effects, but did you know that it can also be used for therapeutic reasons? By injecting small quantities of botulinum toxin into the masseter muscles (those of the jaw), muscle relaxation is achieved. The result is a reduction in the force with which you clench your jaws (don't worry, you'll still be able to chew normally), which greatly relieves tension. The treatment is fast, minimally invasive and the effects can last for several months.

And as a bonus, the aesthetic benefits

As well as relieving bruxism, this treatment helps to slim the jaw. Your face will look slimmer and more harmonious. Pretty cool, isn't it?

What can we expect?

The effects generally start to be felt after a few days. You'll notice that you grind your teeth less and, over time, that the lower part of your face becomes thinner. Results can last between 4 and 6 months, after which you can consider further injections if you wish.
